About the Get Healthy program

When you join, you will work with your health coach to choose your health focus. This could be support to:

  • eat healthily
  • get active  
  • reduce the amount of alcohol you drink 
  • reach and stay at a healthy weight 
  • gain a healthy amount of weight in pregnancy
  • manage your health while living with type 2 diabetes or cancer

How the Get Healthy program works

Get Healthy encourages you to set your own health goals, and gives you information, motivation and support while you work towards them. It is designed to fit in with your life, so services are provided via phone, email, text and online.

When you join Get Healthy, you’ll get:

  • access to your own university qualified health coach
  • motivation and support to set health goals that are important to you
  • up to 6 or more regular confidential coaching calls – all at a time that suits you
  • emails and texts to encourage you and remind you about appointments
  • information about your personal health concerns
  • support to help you track your goals and actions
  • support to overcome anything stopping you from reaching your goals
  • the option to book coaching sessions online

The amount of time it takes to complete the program will vary. When you finish, you can re-enrol for more coaching.

Get Healthy is available in languages other than English. Free interpreter services are available.

Get Healthy for Aboriginal people

If you identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, this program is for you.

Your health coach can help you make small changes so you look and feel deadly, like eating healthy foods, getting active, and drinking less alcohol.

Yarn with an Aboriginal health coach who will work with you to help you reach your goals.

You’ll get a journal to track your progress and information specific to Aboriginal communities.

If you want to know more, talk to your Aboriginal health worker, a doctor like your General Practitioner (GP) or other health professional, or call Get Healthy today on 1300 806 258 Monday to Friday, 8am to 8pm.

Get Healthy in Pregnancy

Get support to be healthy and give your baby the best start in life.

Healthy eating and being active during pregnancy can help you have:

  • better sleep
  • more energy
  • better digestion
  • less lower back pain
  • better mental health
  • a more active labour

Being in the healthy weight range and not drinking alcohol can help to:

  • improve your chances of getting pregnant
  • lower your risk of gestational diabetes and high blood pressure in pregnancy
  • lower your chances of miscarriage

Building healthy habits in pregnancy can also help your baby have better lifelong health and wellbeing.

Your personal health coach can support you to eat well and keep active. They can also help you stay within a healthy weight range during pregnancy and return to a healthy weight afterwards.
